Home is where your story begins!

Struthers was a wonderful place to grow up. In this, my first book, I have tried to capture the history, beauty and personality of the city. Stories are told that highlight the love and hard work of its people.

I have three aspirations for Struthers.

• To honor its heritage, people and stories.
• To influence readers to preserve history either on their own or through the Struthers Historical Society.
• To inspire readers to scrapbook their favorite stories. Putting pictures together with a narrative is a very rich gift for family, friends and the future.

Patti grew up in Struthers, attending Holy Trinity Grade School and Struthers High School while shopping at the Fifth Street Plaza, eating Elmton Pizza and learning to swim at "the birdbath." Today she lives in Toledo with her husband, Dan. Together they enjoyed raising two daughters.

She is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology and Palliative Care, holding advanced certifications in both specialties. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Medical College of Ohio, Toledo; Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capital University, Columbus; Nursing Diploma from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Youngstown.

Struthers is her first book and major publication outside of the professional nursing literature.
